Natural wedding photography and cinematic wedding films at DoubleTree by Hilton Nottingham – Gateway
DoubleTree by Hilton Nottingham – Gateway is a venue I know particularly well, having photographed and filmed weddings throughout the hotel, its function rooms and landscaped grounds.
Based just a few minutes away in Cossall, near Junction 26 of the M1, I provide natural wedding photography and cinematic wedding videography at DoubleTree Nottingham, either individually or together as part of one coordinated wedding media package.
My approach is predominantly documentary: real moments, genuine reactions and the atmosphere of your wedding as it naturally unfolds. Alongside that, I will create a small number of carefully produced portraits that make the most of the hotel, the ornamental moat and the surrounding grounds.
A recent DoubleTree Nottingham wedding
I recently returned to DoubleTree Nottingham to provide both photography and videography for a complete wedding day.
Because the photography and film were produced together, everything was planned as one coordinated piece of storytelling. The couple did not need to disappear for separate photography and video sessions, and the day was not repeatedly interrupted to recreate moments for different cameras.
The result was a complete collection of natural photographs, a cinematic wedding film and separate video episodes covering the most important parts of the day.
'Just Married' at the Doubletree by hilton
Above is a short “Just Married” sequence taken from the much longer wedding film. This is often the first opportunity the couple has to step away from their guests, take everything in and enjoy a few quiet moments together.
We begin by simply letting you walk, talk and enjoy the fact that you have just got married. Once you have had that moment, I will introduce a little guidance and posing to create that extra bit of “wow” in your photographs and film — without turning it into a long or uncomfortable photoshoot, we keep it light hearted and above all else fun.

DoubleTree Nottingham wedding photography and videography
DoubleTree Nottingham provides considerably more photographic and filming variety than couples may initially expect from a hotel wedding venue.
The landscaped grounds and ornamental moat create attractive backgrounds for couple portraits, confetti, group photographs and quieter moments away from the main reception. The covered entrance, hotel interiors and function rooms also provide useful alternatives when the Nottingham weather is less cooperative.
For most of the day, we work unobtrusively and capture events as they naturally happen. You will not spend your wedding being constantly directed, repeatedly posing or recreating moments for separate photography and video cameras.
Most couples want to enjoy their drinks reception with their guests, so I keep the formal photographs organised and efficient. We can then take a short walk around the grounds for relaxed couple portraits and film sequences before getting you back to the celebration.
Because the ceremony, reception and accommodation can all take place at DoubleTree Nottingham, the wedding film can follow the complete story of the day without the disruption of repeatedly travelling between different locations.
Professional audio is also an important part of my wedding films. Wherever circumstances allow, discreet microphones are used during the ceremony and speeches so your vows, readings and personal messages can be heard clearly.
