Sam and Luke first approached me to be their Hotel Van Dyke Wedding Photographer back in September 2016. I'd never shot at that particular venue before so was very excited to shoot somewhere new!
I swung by the venue one evening in the week just before sundown and noted the way it was being lit after dark... this got a seasoned pro like me very excited, I could immediately see its potential from a dramatic wedding photographer perspective!
I mentioned to them that it'd be a great idea to do a second portrait shoot at sunset to make use of the outside lighting which they were very excited to do, it's become a bit of a common themes in the weddings I shoot now, making the most of the same venue you've been shooting in all day, but when the light has changed, you can create really dramatic shots if you know how to light your shots properly.
I was very excited that the Bride's father had brought his 5.0 V8 Ford Mustang along AND it was white, had to put that in one of the evening shots, my dream car! It came out fantastically!
As well as being their wedding photographer, they opted for my Wedding Videography add-on. I've put the highlights trailer version of it below (not the full version, just the highlights).
All in all, Hotel Van Dyke is a fantastic little venue, their staff were very attentive, hotel rooms / bridal suite was beautiful (you can see a photo of it below) and the wedding was a very enjoyable wedding to photography and video. Lovely clients too... I do remember having length conversations with the Bride's dad regarding his V8 Mustang.... I've added it to my Christmas list!...
